Set up package types for Australia Post integration

This article explains how retailers using Australia Post can provide accurate package dimensions and weight during fulfillment. This ensures compliance with carrier requirements and avoids penalties. Retailers can manage package types using the appropriate links.

The package types created will appear only for the orders that will be shipped and not for the BOPIS orders.

Key concepts

Before setting up the packages, understand:

Shipment : The overall delivery transaction that contains one or more parcels, plus sender/recipient addresses, carrier selection, tracking, and labels

Package: In this document it refers to the box, envelope etc that the items are placed in.

Weight : Weight of the package.

Dimensions :  Length, width and height of the package.

Parcel: A package or item being shipped. It is the package with products inside and a shipping label on it.

Weight of the parcel: Weight of the products and the package.

Dimensions of the parcel: Same with the dimensions of the package.

Managing package types

The package types can be managed via these endpoints.

Early Access

This configuration is available as Early Access. The feature to select the package size is available on Associate App v.1.76.

Create a package type

Creates a new package type for the tenant. See Create Package Type.

Important

The fulfillment flow will start showing the package selection once at least one package size is created.  The package sizes created here will be shown in the app with an alphabetical order.

List a package type

Returns all configured package types sorted by alphabetical order. See List Package Type.

Show a package type

Returns a single package type by its ID. See Show package type.

Update a package type

Partially updates an existing package type. See Update package type.

Delete a package type

Deletes an existing package type. Once deleted, the package type will no longer be available for associates to select during the packing flow in the Associate App. See Destroy package type.
