Selecting how to build self-checkout
How do you want to build your self-checkout app?

NewStore self-checkout is headless. NewStore provides the platform APIs, per-store credentials, documentation, and local stub servers. You, or a system integrator (SI) working with you, build the self-checkout app that shoppers use, process payment through your own payment terminal, and operate the self-checkout lane in the store.

NewStore provides two ways to build the app. Both produce the same result, a self-checkout app for the kiosk and a small backend for payments, integrated with the Catalog, Promotions, Tax Quotation, Order Placement, and Receipt APIs.

Whichever path you select, the following steps must be completed by you as a retailer:

  • Create the per-store credentials via Omnichannel Manager, and this takes time.

  • Select, buy, set up your hardware.

  • Payment is processed via your payment service provider (PSP) and terminal of choice. The PSP API key is served in a thin backend component that you own, never in the browser or app.

  • The store manager or lead sales associate must log in every morning in the self-checkout terminals before they can be used.
